Accommodation: We will be staying together in a beautiful traditional Italian Farm House with seven bedrooms and 11 beds and six bathrooms on a 650-acre winery! The beautiful home is located between Florence, Arezzo, and Siena. You will be sharing a bathroom with 1 to 2 other guests. We will be living like the local Italians and have clean towels and sheets as needed. The house has new mattresses on all of the beds! There are 650 acres of vineyards, olive groves and woodland area out our front door. The home is in beautiful condition and is of a different era of nobility and beauty. The house has a pool (open May through September and October if the weather is permitting), and there is a beautiful centuries-old stone church of historical significance on the property. The winery is on the east flanks of the Chianti Hills and neighbors the Chianti Classico region of grapes. On the property is a trail that leads to the top of a hill with a medieval tower that you can climb for a fantastic view of the area. The tower is built on ruins of a Roman fortress where you can still see the original walls.
Itinerary: The tentative plan is from our base in Chianti Hills. Surrounded by olive groves and the vineyards of Chianti, at a beautiful 300-year-old winery. Wine tasting at our winery and a cooking class with a real Italian grandma! We will visit Siena, a medieval town set on three hills connected by winding stairways and steep steps with the Piazza del Campo in the heart of Siena. We will spend a day exploring and touring this beautiful Tuscan city. We will spend an afternoon at San Gimignano, an Italian hill town in Tuscany, southwest of Florence. We will spend our last day in Florence and see Michelangelo’s David.
Not included: All activities and meals during the unscheduled time and those not stated above, alcohol, airfare, and ground transportation to Siena and back to the airport. Still, I will give you detailed directions on how to get there and back!
Extras: I offer free assistance for finding flights, trains, or buses to get you to Siena and back. I provide ideas if you want to stay a few days before or after the Tuscany trip to Venice, Rome, or Florence. The closest airport is Florence. You may also fly into Pisa, Rome or Venice (approx 2 hours by train to Florence from all cities and Siena is 1.5 hours from Florence) and arrive by train then a bus or taxi. Please talk to me before booking airfare so we can look and make sure your connections will go smoothly. You can do this! The fastest way to arrive at the villa is to fly to Florence and take an airport shuttle directly to the winery.
You may pick and choose any or all of the activities that are included in the tour.
Welcome dinner with Leslie & Michelle at the villa. Relax with a glass of Prosecco and some antipasta after your day’s travel.
Traditional Italian breakfast of coffee, Proscuitto, cheese, jam, salty croissant, Schiaccata bread, yogurt, fruit. A walk in the Tuscan countryside with Michelle as she shares, and we learn about our retreat. This retreat/tour is about Embracing Your Beauty and Brokeness, Living your Authentic Life Now. The session with Michelle in the morning. The afternoon is free to explore the landscape of the winery. Dinner at the Villa at 7:00 pm
A session with Michelle in the morning. Tour of a vineyard that has been in the same family for three generations! This place is like family, and we will learn the history of the winery and taste delicious wine!
Breakfast together and then a day to relax and thoroughly enjoy the winery and countryside, read a book, swim (if warm weather), or be adventurous and walk up the hill to the medieval tower. Michelle will be available for one on one coaching sessions today.
We will have breakfast and a morning walk, and in the afternoon, visit San Gimignano. Encircled by 13th-century walls, its old town centers on Piazza Della Cisterna, a triangular square lined with medieval houses. It has a skyline of medieval towers, including the stone Torre Grossa. The Duomo di San Gimignano is a 12th-century church with frescoes by Ghirlandaio in its Santa Fina Chapel.
We will have breakfast and then experience a private tour of Siena, one of the most beautiful cities of Tuscany. The medieval town is set on three hills connected by winding stairways and steep steps with the Piazza del Campo in the heart of Siena. We will enjoy lunch and dinner together in this spectacular little city.
We will enjoy daily a Traditional Italian breakfast at our farmhouse, and then we take the train to Florence! We will have a private tour of the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenza where Michaelangelo’s David is on display. Visit the Uffizi Gallerie, which is the most visited art museum in the world. It contains works from Italian Renaissance artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who themselves went to the Uffizi to seek inspiration for their work. Enjoy lunch together at a lovely Italian restaurant near the Uffizi that has been run by the same family for generations! The late afternoon is free time for you to explore by yourself or with fellow travelers. Leslie is happy to share some of her favorite shops and welcomes companions. We will spend the night in Florence at a lovely hotel in the heart of the city.
After an 8:00 am breakfast, we say goodbye and head home with a renewed energy, positive memories, and a plan for self-care and healing. Packages available for two additional days in Florence. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This itinerary is tentative, and the final itinerary will be sent two weeks before the tour begins.
