Accommodation: We will be staying together in a beautiful traditional Italian Villa with 7 bedrooms and 12 beds and 5 bathrooms 3 km outside of Siena. You will be sharing a bathroom with 1 to 2 other guests. We will be living like the local Italians and have clean towels and sheets as needed. A beautiful classical walled garden surrounds the villa. The villa is in beautiful condition and is of a different era of nobility and beauty. The villa has a pool and small chapel on the property.
Itinerary: The tentative itinerary is from our base in Siena. Surrounded by olive groves and the vineyards of Chianti, Siena is one of the most beautiful cities of Tuscany. The medieval city is set on three hills connected by winding stairways and steep steps with the Piazza del Campo in the heart of Siena. We will spend a day exploring and touring this beautiful Tuscan city. We will tour a local vineyard, winery and organic farm that has been in the same family for 7 generations and enjoy wine tasting, a tour of the winery and a delicious lunch. A day trip to Florence including a private tour of the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, the David and more. We will spend an afternoon at San Gimignano, an Italian hill town in Tuscany, southwest of Florence.
Not included: All activities and meals during the unscheduled time and those not stated above, alcohol, airfare, and ground transportation to Siena and back to the airport, but I will give you detailed directions on how to get there and back!
Extras: I offer free assistance for finding flights, trains or buses to get you to Siena and back. I offer ideas if you want to stay a few days before or after the Tuscany trip in Venice, Rome or Florence. We start this trip in Siena. The closest airport is Florence. You may also fly into Pisa, Rome or Venice (approx 2 hours by train to Florence from all cities and Siena is 1.5 hours from Florence) and arrive by train then bus and/or taxi. Please talk to me before booking airfare so we can look and make sure your connections will go smoothly. You can do this! The fastest way to arrive at the villa is to fly to Florence and take an airport shuttle directly to Siena for around 150 Euro.
You may pick and choose any or all of the activities that are included in the tour.
Welcome dinner, with Leslie & Michelle at the villa. Relax with a glass of Prosecco and some antipasta after your day’s travel.
Traditional Italian breakfast of coffee, prosciutto, cheese, jam, salty croissant, Schiaccata bread, yogurt, fruit. A walk in the Tuscan countryside with Michelle as she shares and we learn about our retreat Embracing Your Beauty and Brokeness, Living your Authentic Life Now. The afternoon is free to explore the countryside or Siena. Dinner at the Villa at 7:00 pm
Tour of a vineyard that has been in the same family for 7 generations! The father and oldest son work the vineyard and harvest the grapes. The middle son tends the organic garden where local people come and pick the vegetables or greens that they want to purchase. The youngest son is a gifted winemaker who has studied extensively at university and at international wineries in enology or winemaking. This will be an incredible treat. The mother will cook for us a wonderful Tuscan lunch to be paired with their wines. We will relax in the afternoon and have a teaching from Michelle before dinner.
We will enjoy daily a Traditional Italian breakfast at our villa and then we take the train to Florence! We will have a private tour of the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenza where Michaelangelo’s David is on display. Visit the Uffizi Gallerie which is the most visited art museum in the world. It contains works from Italian Renaissance artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who themselves went to the Uffizi to seek inspiration for their work. Enjoy lunch together at a lovely Italian restaurant near the Uffizi that has been run by the same family for generations! The late afternoon is free time for you to explore by yourself or with fellow travelers. Leslie is happy to share some of her favorite shops and welcomes companions. We will take a 6:30 pm train from Florence to Siena and take a taxi from Siena to the villa.
We will have breakfast and a morning retreat and teaching with Michelle and in the afternoon visit San Gimignano. Encircled by 13th-century walls, its old town centers on Piazza della Cisterna, a triangular square lined with medieval houses. It has a skyline of medieval towers, including the stone Torre Grossa. The Duomo di San Gimignano is a 12th-century church with frescoes by Ghirlandaio in its Santa Fina Chapel.
We will have breakfast and then experience a private tour of Siena, one of the most beautiful cities of Tuscany. The medieval city is set on three hills connected by winding stairways and steep steps with the Piazza del Campo in the heart of Siena. We will enjoy lunch together and in the afternoon have teaching with Michelle.
Breakfast together and then a day to relax and thoroughly enjoy the villa and countryside, read a book, swim, or be adventurous and walk the country lane down to the main road and take the bus into Siena. Michelle will be available for one on one coaching sessions today. We will cook an Italian meal together in the villa.
After an 8:00 am breakfast, we say goodbye and head home with a renewed energy and positive memories.
This itinerary is tentative and the final itinerary will be sent 2 weeks before the tour begins.
