Welcome to Salzburg! We will get settled into our hotel and then enjoy a nice dinner and stroll the medieval streets where Mozart was a boy.
Breakfast together and then take the Fräulein Marie Bicycle Tour of Salzburg (Sound of Music)! You will not be disappointed! Even if you have never seen the movie, the bike tour takes you through some of the most beautiful spots in Salzburg. Remember the movie scouts went through the city and picked the best views and locations. This bike tour will include a quick trip to Hellbrun Palace. Then lunch and a workshop with Timathea Shays where you will begin your journals.
Tour the castle above the city, Hohensalzburg Fortress, which sits on a small hill overlooking Salzburg. This is one of the largest medieval castles in Europe! Lunch followed by a tour of the amazing Palace of the Archbishops, the Residence where Mozart played as a young boy. We will meet for a lovely coffee at Salzburg’s oldest cafe and you can have a sweet treat.
After our breakfast, we have a few last hours in Salzburg to work on journals, shop or just stroll. Our hotel has a lovely spa so you can also enjoy the morning with a sauna or a steam bath. After lunch at the hotel, we will head to the train station and take the train to Vienna. We will settle into our hotel and enjoy dinner in this fabulous baroque city!
We will have a private guided tour of the Hofburg Palace and lunch at the amazing Cafe Central. We will see the Rathaus, the Vienna State Opera House, and of course, sample some of the amazing coffee houses!
We will see the magnificent Schoenbrunn Palace and walk the acres of gardens. We will have lunch together and then the afternoon is free to explore on your own or with your guide, Leslie.
We will continue to explore Vienna and tour the beautiful Stephensdom Cathedral, the Art History Museum of Vienna which houses an amazing collection of works and was built as beautifully as the fine Palace of Schoenbrunn. A huge marble stairway greets you at the museum and the cafe is a piece of art in and of itself! We will explore the wine country of Vienna and visit the Heurigen which is the name given to taverns in Eastern Austria at which local winemakers serve their new wine for dinner.
After breakfast, we say goodbye, remember the awesome time we enjoyed together and head back home!
