Accommodation: We will be staying together in a beautiful traditional Italian Farm House with seven bedrooms and 11 beds and six bathrooms on a 650-acre winery! The beautiful home located near Florence, Arezzo, and Siena awaits you! You will be sharing a bathroom with 1 to 2 other guests. We will live like the local Italians and have clean towels and sheets as needed. The house has new mattresses on all of the beds! There are 650 acres of vineyards, olive groves and woodland area out our front door. The home is in beautiful condition and is of a different era of grace and beauty. The house has a private pool (open May through September), and there is a lovely centuries-old stone church of historical significance on the property. The winery is on the east flanks of the Chianti Hills and neighbors the Chianti Classico region of grapes. A trail leads to the top of a hill with a medieval tower that you can climb for a fantastic view of the area — the tower built on ruins of a Roman fortress where you can still see the original walls. The 200-year-old farmhouse has thick stucco walls and shutters to keep the heat out and the cool inside. Each room has fans. Fall brings beautiful fall colors and the harvesting of the olives trees. Autumn can be cool in Tuscany so bring a jacket and dress in layers!
Itinerary: The tentative plan is from our base in Chianti Hills to explore the surrounding areas. We are surrounded by olive groves and the vineyards of Chianti, at a beautiful 300-year-old winery. Wine tasting at our winery and a cooking class with a real Italian grandma awaits us! We will visit Siena, a medieval town set on three hills connected by winding stairways and steep steps with the Piazza del Campo in the heart of Siena. We will spend a day exploring and touring Siena and San Gimignano, a gorgeous Italian hill town in Tuscany, southwest of Florence.
Not included: All activities and meals during the unscheduled time and those not stated above, alcohol, airfare, and ground transportation to and from the winery and back to the airport. I will provide detailed directions on how to get there and back!
Extras: I offer free assistance for finding flights, trains, or buses to get you to the winery and back. I can offer ideas if you want to stay a few days before or after the Tuscany trip to visit Venice, Rome, or Florence. We start this trip in the Chianti Hills 40 minutes from Florence. The closest airport is Florence. You may also fly into Pisa, Rome or Venice (approx 2 hours by train to Florence from all cities) and arrive by train then a bus or taxi. Please talk to me before booking airfare so we can look and make sure your connections will go smoothly. You can do this! The fastest way to arrive at the winery is to fly to Florence and take an airport shuttle directly to the winery for around 150 Euro.
